It's Sump Pump Season
It's been a cold spring but what a welcome pleasure these longer days have been. Along with thawing snow and rain, spring may also bring flooding to a basement if the sump pump isn't working properly. Here's a quick checklist to ensure your sump pump is working properly:

Check that the breaker is on.
Make sure the sump pump is plugged in and nothing else is connected to the same outlet.
Verify your diverter valve is on "winter" discharge until the temperatures are consistently above freezing.
Once temperatures are consistently up, switch the diverter valve to "summer" discharge and ensure a black flex hose is attached outside so water runs away from the foundation.
Now get ready to enjoy summer!
